sport coil springs; polyurethane bushings throughout; IPD 25mm sway bars front
and rear; Bilstein shocks/struts; 16x7 Miglia wheels w/ 245-45ZR/16 Michelin
Sport Pilots; stainless braided brake lines; IPD adj. panhard rod; IPD/Volvo GT
upper strut braces; IPD lower chassis brace; upgraded to factory-style
aftermarket Brembo vented front rotors with factory 4-piston calipers; standard
2-piston calipers and solid rotors on rear
Exterior
repaint by Malibu Collision in Halls, TN; interior seats refinished by
Lonnie’s Upholstery in Knoxville, TN; Volvo O.E.M. tach, speedo, coolant temp,
oil temp, fuel economy (vacuum), oil pressure gauges all calibrated to work with
Ford engine; custom electric cooling fan speed gauge fabricated to look just
like the rest of the factory Volvo/VDO gauges; aftermarket fully electronic
cruise control operated by Volvo factory cruise control/turn-signal switch; Sony
200W stereo/CD w/ Infinity (front) and Polk Audio (rear) speakers; Volvo
“R-Sport” steering wheel; Hella Euro-quartz iodine headlights with upgraded
wiring/relays and 90W/100W hi/lo and 100W high beams w/Lexan headlight covers;
handmade fiberglass front and rear bumpers using the stock aluminum forgings as
a mold – knocked 57 lbs. off the car
Engine swap was
done in 96 when the car had 132,300 miles on it. The engine had about
35,000 miles on it when swapped in. The stock 85 mph speedo was changed
out for a 120 mph unit that had 47,300 miles less on the odometer. So the
mileage on the odometer shows 47k low. As of Dec. 2005, the chassis has
175, 600 miles on it; the engine has 78,300 miles on it – 18,300 since the
performance changes were made.
